Flea ridden cat in litter tray - Kill fleas with Itch Flea

Do fleas live in cat litter boxes?

Fleas can sometimes be found in cat litter boxes, but they do not actually live and breed there. Fleas prefer to stay on a host animal, like your dog or cat because they can feed on their blood.

However, flea eggs, larvae, and pupae can fall off the cat and end up in the surrounding environment, including bedding, carpets, and occasionally the litter box.

A litter box may become a temporary place where flea eggs or larvae are present, especially if an infested cat frequently uses it. The warm, sheltered environment and organic debris in used litter can allow flea larvae to survive for a short time. If you use standard cat litter, then their tray is more likely to be dry and often disturbed, which makes it less suitable for the flea life cycle.

If you spot fleas near their litter box, it is usually a sign of a bigger infestation in your home. To remove fleas, treat your pet and your home with vet-approved cat flea treatment like Itch Flea and Itch Flea House Spray. Alongside this, you need to regularly clean your cat's litter tray and vacuum your house daily. It sounds like a lot but flea removal takes a bit of elbow grease.
