What does household flea spray do?

Household flea spray is used to kill and prevent fleas in your home environment. These sprays, like Itch Flea House Spray target adult fleas as well as their eggs and larvae, helping to break the flea life cycle. Most products contain insecticides (like permethrin or pyrethrins) that kill adult fleas on contact, and insect growth regulators (IGRs) such as methoprene or pyriproxyfen that stop eggs and larvae from developing into new adults.
When sprayed on carpets, furniture, pet bedding, and floor cracks, the product reaches the hidden areas where fleas often live and breed. This helps reduce infestations that can’t be controlled just by treating pets alone.
Some sprays also work against other pests, like ticks or dust mites. It’s important to follow safety instructions — people and pets should usually leave the treated area until the spray has dried or ventilated.
