Putting items outside may reduce fleas, but it usually won’t remove them completely.
Fleas can survive days to weeks depending on temperature and humidity. Cold freezing temperatures or prolonged direct sunlight/heat can kill them, but mild weather often won’t. Flea eggs are especially resilient.
To effectively remove fleas, wash items in hot water and dry on high heat, or seal them in airtight bags for 1–2 weeks. This is much more effective than simply placing items outside.
